I  am #madeinthecsu, and received my BA from Cal State Fullerton and MA from San Diego State. Araceli Guzman

Hi!!! My name is Araceli Guzman and I'm one of the Senior Coordinators of Residential Education and Leadership. I'm part of the Res Life management team referred to as CORE. Besides overseeing our Area Coordinator staff, I also oversee our conduct system. I've been at Cal Poly Pomona since 2013 and even though I've worked for other institutions, I gotta say I'm a Bronco at heart. I received my M.S. in Counseling-Student Affairs from Cal State Bakersfield and my B.A from UCSB. I guess you can say I bleed green and gold with a dash of blue!

What I always tell folks interested in CPP is, are you ready for an extended family? That's truly how we function, and that's what I love about working for Res Life at CPP!

Feli Tamparong

I truly love my UHS Fam, so enjoy getting to know us and I look forward to the opportunity to chat with you!

Zane Hight

Hi there! My name is Zane Hight and I serve as Area Coordinator for Vista de las Estrellas & the Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies. I've worked for Cal Poly Pomona since June 2017, and previously at the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma for six years prior. I received my Bachelor's degree in Vocal Music Performance from the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith and my Master's in College Student Personnel from Arkansas Tech University. At Cal Poly Pomona, a couple of my favorite leadership opportunities are serving as the course instructor for our Residential Leadership class and facilitating a weekly forum for queer men at the CPP Pride Center. These roles really align with my passions and I've had the freedom to pursue them here in the AC role. My favorite thing about Cal Poly Pomona is the friendly staff you'll meet here! CPP places a huge emphasis on inclusion and building relationships between our team, students, and others on campus. We're also at the perfect intersection of urban LA experiences, Orange County beaches and shopping, and hiking/skiing adventures at nearby Mt. Baldy. Whether you want to walk a red carpet or take a drive through the mountains, it's all at your fingertips from here. I look forward to sharing more with you when you visit our unique campus!

Cristina Araujo

Hola! My name is Cristina Araujo, I am an Area Coordinator of two suite style communities that we call Luna/Montanas. I grew up in the I.E. (Inland Empire), and attended Cal State San Bernardino for my undergraduate and the University of Central Arkansas for grad school. Cal Poly Pomona has been my home since. I am going on my fourth year. I love this campus and our students, Cal Poly Pomona is familia for me. Since I have been here I have built strong relationships with colleagues all around campus through my involvements in the Latino, Faculty, Staff, Student Association (LFSSA), Unity Luncheon Committee, Student Success Coaching and other committees in housing and on campus. I enjoy working with our students, they are fun, intelligent, and passionate about their roles and careers. I am passionate about issues around diversity and social justice. So I am grateful to work with students and advocate for others on these issues. Other things I enjoy are live music, (my fiance is in a cover and original band and they are pretty amazing, so you will probably find me at one of his gigs on the weekend), watching Netflix, Grey’s Anatomy, This is Us, going to Disneyland, seeing my family, and spending time with my puppy Mia Ham! Mia is a 5 month old Corgi. I got her in October of last year, as an 8 week puppy. She is very energetic, sociable, and loves people. I love her so much! Anyways that's a little bit about me and my experience at CPP. You will love it here!

Valissa Thomas

Hi, My name is Valissa Thomas! I am in my first year as an Area Coordinator at Cal Poly Pomona. As a professional in higher education and student affairs for five years, and specifically in residential life for eight years beginning as a Resident Advisor at Cal State Fullerton, I have really enjoyed my time and experience in residence life. After my NUFP experience in undergrad, I continued on to obtain my Master's degree at the University of the Pacific and continued my passion for residential life and became the NASPA NUFP program coordinator for the division. With my interest in residential education, student leadership, identity development, Black Women and Queer POC advocacy, community building, and self-care, I am excited to continue my journey in student affairs. You'll usually find me hanging out with my family, visiting friends, and singing my favorite Beyoncé songs!

Hollie Allbaugh

Hello there! My name is Hollie Allbaugh and I am one of the Area Coordinators here on the Residence Life Team. I oversee Encinitas and Montecito Halls, two of our “red bricks” style traditional residence hall communities, and have worked here at Cal Poly Pomona since June of 2017. While my career thus far has primarily focused on housing and residence life, I am also passionate about mental health and suicide prevention, working with first-generation students, and LGBTQ student experiences. I live on campus with my wife, Rachel, and our two pets: Pepper, a rambunctiously friendly 4-year-old Dachshund/Beagle mix, and Dylan, our sweet and snuggly 9-year-old Senegal parrot. I am known around our community and with my Resident Advisors for being a bit of an “old lady” as I quite enjoy crocheting, baking, crafting, reading, and going to bed ridiculously early. When I’m not snuggled up at home, however, I enjoy going out to catch a movie, exploring Los Angeles and the Inland Empire, or simply hanging out with my friends and trying a new restaurant in the area.

Maria Cerce

Hi! My name is Maria Cerce. I’m from a small town in Massachusetts. Yes, that does mean I am a Patriots fan. Tom Brady is the GOAT! It also means I’ve seen enough snow in my lifetime to truly appreciate Pomona’s ‘winters.’ I started as a Resident Advisor in 2008 at Assumption College in Worcester, MA, and that’s when I became a proud Reslifer. I’ve worked as Hall Director at Clark University (also in Worcester, MA) and a Resident Director at CalStateLA (Los Angeles, CA) before starting at CPP. I love reading self-help books, doing trivia, dancing, and long walks on the beach. Professionally, I am passionate about advocating for first generation and underrepresented students. What I love about working at Cal Poly is that I get to do it all: oversee residence halls, advise a student club, work with the cultural centers, and co-facilitate courses. There are so many opportunities to collaborate and get involved! I feel like I am challenged, encouraged to explore my interests, and supported as a human being. Cal Poly Pomona is home. Come join the family!

Oscar Bacio

Hi! My name is Oscar Bacio and I am the Area Coordinator for two of our traditional residence halls, Alamitos and Aliso. I was born and raised in Hawthorne, CA, a city 15 minutes from LAX. I received my undergraduate and graduate education at University of the Pacific (Go Tigers!) I started working at CPP in July of 2018 and it continues to be a wonderful experience working for the institution. I love the atmosphere that CPP has cultivated around connecting professionals from all walks of life across the entire campus to create a network of support for our students, as well as our professional staff. Outside of UHS, I am involved with the Latino Faculty, Staff, Student Association (LFSSA), Unity Luncheon Committee and Project SUCCESS. Prior to Cal Poly Pomona, I was worked as a Community Director at California State University, Monterey Bay and prior to that I was finishing my graduate studies at University of the Pacific. I currently live with my partner Sonia and our wonderful chihuahua/terrier mix of a dog, Benji. Outside of work, I love going to the gym with my partner, taking walks with our dog and playing video games.
